Feather Trade of Grawben 6998 ER, 30th Late Stok
Pitched Battle in Baltine Diet Enters Second Day! The Speaker’s Rostrum remained empty at the gravel drop on 28th Late Stok, with Oppositionist and Toff forces continuing to clash on the floor. Toff delegates attacked Oppositionist barricades and shield walls with cudgels and staves, ignoring attempts at moderation and mediation by the assembly of advisors. Wangdup, an aide of Toff Three Waters delegate Leomaris, was seriously injured during the scrum. The conflict began on 27th Late Stok, with the defection of two Oppositionist delegates to the growing Industrialist faction. The Oppositionists stand to lose the Rostrum to the Toffs and are possibly in a death spiral as a faction. The Residence of Silver has declined to intervene, despite the administration’s Toff leanings. Accusations of Unelected Influence Traded Extending even to the advisory assembly, Diet members continue to allege influence by unelected interests. This controversy began with the dolina elections, as Toff delegates accused Oppositionists of being beholden to industrial interests and philosophical societies. Oppositionist advisors countered these claims with evidence of dalliance between their Toff counterparts and foreign nobility and Gate War heroes. New Lows for Tri-horn Meat Routes pioneered through the southern steppes have seen bumper profits during the warm months of dolina as successful Far Sonekan livestock drives reach the slaughterhouses of Grawben without Svantran interference. The final drive of the year is a tri-horn herd of 200 head. Tri-horn, a rare meat since the depletion of Zwotepe herds, saw precipitous price drops on the market with the sudden supply glut. Rumiany Vagrancy Decreasing in Ludzia? A large contingency of formerly vagrant rumiany orzut have quit Ludzia. One group under the leadership of Walerian, a near-elder with a history of brigandage, is departing to Bracken according to sources among distant kin. Rumiany vagrancy has been an increasing issue for state authorities. In Ludzia in particular the issue has grown acute with the displacement of clans from their traditional lands in the vicinity of the tylwyth refugee settlement at Chime. The current departures may be related to new opportunities from the expansion of the Keizai Treaties. Breed Review The Captain Engerand’s walleri is a larger breed, easily identified by its triangular crest and longer-than-average legs. This breed is a late Kingship cross between the wild sumpgluck and Flaxland dashers. Its namesake was a natural historian who catalogued the breed and later rose to prominence as a Balloteer leader in Dovenhead. It retains the crest and size of the dasher with the even longer stride of the sumpgluck, but is notably restive, pursuit motivated, and more prone to thrive on fresh meat. Breeders concerned with crests preserved the strain despite the market’s preference for more docile walleri. Exploration and prospecting in the Coldfens has reignited broader interest in the breed. Captain Engerand’s are capable of self-defense against common predators and even some magical beasts, and stalking prey, with muted calls compared to their Flaxland forebears. Buyers should note the smoothness of beaks, and the brightness and suppleness of the flesh around the eye for healthy specimens. Wingspan less than two hand-lengths is indicative of poor nutrition during immaturity, or less size overall. Knees appear knobby in all specimens and are not a negative indication. |
