A true Report to Eternal Dynast Chefren, First of His Name, on the arrival of visitors from the daylit realm to the Tomb of Zeel via magical means and their words spoken upon Question, Inscribed here upon this day by Dynastic Sorcerer Jibade for Deliberation and Eternal Memory:
Eternal Dynast! Praise of the Suzerainty and Chosen of the Gods! That you and all who read this may remember and understand the events therein, inscribed here: visitors from the daylit realm arrived in the Wellspring Fane via magical means. These visitors were of a people not previously encountered and only known from the testimony, inscribed elsewhere, of Teacher Kuroihire Kasumi upon her visit accompanied by the human Lamina Coreali, the tylwyth Govannon, the forest barbarian Kasimir, and the construct Countess-4. The teacher named them soldati, extraplanar invaders who made war upon the Suzerainty and other nations of the daylit realm fifteen years ago. As described, they are ruddy in skin tone, more heavily built than iaret, of a somewhat hirsute nature like beastkin, and possessed of large and crude dentition. The visitors were discovered by Eternal Dynast To-Meri, Daughter of Chefren, and Dynastic Sorcerer Jibade. Both were bound in ropes when they arrived, with one using a sword of foreign manufacture to free the other. They did not reply to commands delivered in our tongue, and indeed, when freed one of the pair struck Eternal Dynast To-Meri. May the gods curse his unworthy hide forever for this affront to the personage of her High Holiness! The visitors were paralyzed via magical means by Dynastic Sorcerer Jibade and restrained by tomb guardians. All of the Tomb of Zeel was gathered to question the visitors. After refusing first to speak or reveal understanding of our tongue, they were put to the Question and compelled to answer. Both had complete understanding of our tongue and when given proper enticement with sharp blows from the tomb guardians could speak it. Their tale confirmed the words of Teacher Kuroihire Kasumi. Both participated in the invasion of the daylit realms from another plane. One claimed to have participated in several such invasions of other worlds, each ending with that world’s subjugation. The world of Geb was the first of their knowledge to successfully resist invasion. Praise be to the gods for their protection of their devoted subjects! Praise be to the Strong Arms in their invincible defense of the daylit realm! May the Suzerainty stand eternal! Other details imparted by the visitors concerned the sorry state of the Satrapy of Bracken, the borders of which these defeated invaders plagued with banditry. In the course of this lawlessness the pair and others of their number had been ambushed by warriors of Geb. Remarkably, these warriors included the previous visitors to the Tomb of Zeel. It was Teacher Kasumi Kuroihire who sent these visitors to the Tomb of Zeel via magical means. By sending bound captives she showed proper obeisance and tribute to the Eternal Dynasts and delivered to them news from the daylit realm. Praise be to the apkallu, forever friends to the iaret! Those assembled discussed the import of these revelations. Teacher Kuroihire Kasumi intimated during her visit that over a millenia had passed since the last interment in the Tomb of Zeel. Her tale of the daylit realms was confirmed so far as these new visitors could describe. By decree of Eternal Dynast Chefren, First of His Name, all efforts must be made to contact the daylit realm! He directs his Dynastic Sorcerer to commit himself to study of the means to do so, as those interred in the Tomb of Zeel may not leave. The advice and mentorship of the Tomb of Zeel is sorely needed by the current Dynast, particularly in matters of war and of the management of wayward satrapies. He further directs that the visitors be slain as an example of Neath’s welcome to those who would threaten her home. The one who struck Eternal Dynast To-Meri, Daughter of Chefren shall be bent backwards as an offering to the gods for his terrible blasphemy. The other shall be ended in whatever manner expedient to the tomb guardians. The decree as it pertained to the fate of the visitors was carried out. The offending visitor was offered to the gods with all appropriate ritual. May the gods receive this sacrifice and their hurt be assuaged! The remaining visitor was left alone during the ritual and freed himself from his bonds and departed from the Tomb of Zeel. His fate is unknown, but may he wander forever, accursed to find no rest or welcome! May the mutu below gnaw his bones to splinters, or the guardian above squeeze the life from his lungs and drown him in torment and dark water! Such events as they happened are here inscribed in their fullness by Dynastic Sorcerer Jibade. |
